At SIGIS Child Care Society our mission is to:
Our Program
SIGIS Child Care Society was formed in August of 1994 as a non-profit society. SIGIS Child Care is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, which consists of parents, residents of St. Albert, and any other community member interested in quality child care. SIGIS parents are encouraged to participate on the SIGIS Board. Monthly board/parent meetings are currently held virtually and parents are encouraged to attend and have an active role in determining the quality of child care the children receive.
Our Philosophy
SIGIS Child Care Society uses curriculum-based lesson planning that coincides with the relevant age groups, interests and curriculum focus. SIGIS Child Care Society’s Lesson Planning is high quality and it captures and educates the children. Educators follow the developmental milestones of the children and build onto them by incorporating them into the curriculum focus.
SIGIS Child Care Society’s lesson planning and room environment incorporate STEM from an early age to promote how things work in the real world. STEM is the approach to learning and development that integrates the areas of science, technology, engineering and math. STEM promotes creativity and explores different ideas on how to problem-solve.
SIGIS Child Care Society’s programs offer choices and aim to meet the needs of individual children as well as the community of children. Educators facilitate and support the children’s growth as they learn about their world.
Staff Qualifications
All primary staff members hold minimum certification as an ECE Level 1. All other staff members are certified as an ECE Level 2 or Level 3. All SIGIS staff members hold a valid First Aid in Child Care certificate and have undergone a criminal record check.
